Graphical Add-Ons

This page describes some fun graphical goodies you might add to your Seaman game. Mostly they are all done with circles.

Bird(s) in the Sky
A Face on the Seaman
Waves in the water

Bird(s) in the Sky

You can do a stylized flying bird with four circles, two black or dark gray circles partly overlapping horizontally, then covered with a pair of slightly larger sky-colored circles and slightly less overlap (here shown enlarged and polka-dot so you can see the overlap).

A Face on the Seaman

You can do a simple smiley face with small black circles for eyes and a pair of larger circles for a mouth, a dark (black or red) circle is the bottom outline, then a face-colored circle in front of it to provide the upper outline. Both circles must be smaller than the face, but you can cover over any unwanted upper parts of the circles with face-colored rectangles or other circles.

You can do more realistic comic-strip eyes with slightly larger white circles behind the smaller (dark) pupils. Put the eyes in last.

Don't get too fancy, you need to show the facial features one at a time, all at once (unless you decide to make them separate body parts).

Waves in the water

If you make a row of slightly overlapping boat-colored circles along the bottom of the boat and half off (extending below), the result will (sort of) look like wavelets in the water. You might want to enlarge the prow triangle and/or align the first circle there to be tangent with it, and then use a water-colored rectangle to clip off (cover) the excess at the stern.
